Monday 12/17 Update reading log.  Staple the two pages together if you went on to two.
Work on semester project book trailers.  Present Wednesday

Explain semester project--Book Trailer.  Choose your 4 favorite books of the semester and create a trailer.  Follow the guidelines in the handout.

Pick a graphic novel to read this week! Next Tuesday there will be a special journal about your graphic novel.

Tuesday 11/20 Learning Express Library Reading Exercise
1.  Log in to Learning Express Library
2.  Click on the High School Tab
3.  Click on the Reading Comprehension Skills Improvement Link
4.  Click on Reading Comprehension Diagnostic Tests
5.  Add the first 2 tests in the list to your test center by clicking the Green +
6.  Complete both the Informational Text test and the Literary text test.  When you finish the first test, capture a screen shot of your score.  Then when you finish the Literary text test, capture a screen shot of that score.  Send me an attachment of BOTH screen shots showing your completed tests.

1. Go to
LearningExpress Library
2.  Click Register button under New Users
3.  Set up a free account. Use your computer log in so you will remember it!
4.  Click on High School in the links on left side of page
5. Click on Reading Comp. Skills Improvement
6.  Click on Reading Comprehension Practice
7. Click the green plus sign to add the practice test.
8. Complete the 25 question reading test.  I think the time allowed is 40 minutes so don't race through.
9. When you finish, you will get a score/summary page.  Do a screen shot of that page and sent that to me in an attachment for your assignment for today.
10. From that page you can go back and check your answers.

Complete Two Graphic Novel Activities Today:
ACTIVITY ONE:
1. Go to
Comic Creator.  Add the title of your graphic novel. Add your name in the sub-title line. Add the author or your graphic novel in the author line.
2. Choose the 2 panel template.
3.  Now play with the comic creator and create TWO panels about your graphic novel. Add a caption under the panel to explain what is happening I know the options are very limited but do your best. In the upper right, there are background arrow options. In the lower left, are character, bubble and object options. You need to DRAG the character, bubble or object into the panel. You can type inside the conversation bubble.  Try to create an  important scene from your novel on each of the two panels. When you finish, click print!
